Laith Majali

5 12 2009

Laith Majali is a very successful Elon alum who has gone to do great things, like winning awards for his films at Sundance.  I got to interview him when he came to campus.

I decided to try something different with this video; I used narration in the piece, giving it a more broadcast, rather than documentary feel, which is my usual style.

First picture is….a portrait.  I’ve always felt portrait photography was my best strength.

A Picture A Day, A Thousand A Day

3 12 2009

So my extremely talented photographer friend David Wells came up with the idea of taking a picture every day to improve his photography.  I thought this was a great idea, and as I have been wanting to improve my own photography, I decided to join him in this challenge.  We will be taking pictures every day, and posting our best one to the blog daily.  The goal is to produce a picture that’s “worth a thousand words.”  Anything is game for a subject–people, landscape, sports, still life.  Stay tuned to the blog to see what will be coming!

Made a video this week about a 63 year old graduate student enrolled in Elon University’s iMedia program.  He was quite an interesting fellow!

I’m a Famous Person!!

3 10 2009

Okay, not really.  haha.  Buuut I have made it on to Elon university’s news website, E-net, three times this week, which is pretty awesome.   And I got to speak at a panel in Washington D.C. for Imagining the Internet, and I just finished reading what I said on this blog that Janna posted.  I looked at it going, “that’s what I said?” lol.

New video, new post. This week, I’m putting up this video about Drea Dorrow, which is really my first profile piece that I’ve ever done.

I completely improvised everything with this project.  I didn’t have a camera, microphone, or lights for this video, so I ended up borrowing a camera from a friend, a microphone from an office, and used Drea’s desk lamp for the lighting.
